Gran Habano Cigar Event

October 18, 2005

We will be having a cigar tasting this Saturday, October 22, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. with Gran Habano cigars.

This is what Cigar Aficionado magazine has had to say recently about the Gran Habano line:

"This dark brown cigar is well made, with a good cap. It has rich wood flavors and some earth, with some complementary spices on the palate. Medium to full bodied."

"A supple, oily wrapper covers this cigar. The draw is slightly loose, but the flavor is spicy and earthy, with ginger and orange peel notes. Full-bodied and complex."

Come by and sample a free one and take advantage of great deals, including MORE free cigars and T-shirts. Enjoy college ball on three screens, coffee and espresso from Memphis Coffee Exchange and complimentary beverages. Saturday, October 22, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Guest Cigar Review

I got my computer back from the folks who were fixing it and it still didn't work correctly so I had to send it back...apparently I got a bad Apple. So I'm checking my E-mail remotely and only once a day - sorry if I haven't returned anyone's E-mail or if it's taking a while to get back to you.

I did receive this cigar review for the new CAO Cx2 from James Ward. Sit back, puff away and read this and see if it doesn't make you want one, too.

The CX2 is mild, but crisp, with definite rich earth tones. Unlike the CAO
Extreme, there is no creamy element and the CX2 actually seems to be
bolder/have more depth than the CAO Gold. The surprise is an almost
spicy-cinnamon flavor that finishes sharp--a true accent of the Cameroon
tobacco. I smoked it to the nub, like most CAO cigars. (It also proves
well-rolled, drawing perfectly, leaving tight, improbable ash extension that
only fell into my lap after about 3 inches. BTW-where can I buy ash-colored
pants?) Definitely a unique cigar worth the smoke.

Non-Event!

October 05, 2005

Well, the good people at Apple have taken my computer from me to lovingly repair it since it decided to quit working the other day. It should be another week before it's ready, so if you've E-mailed me but haven't received a reply, then that's why. I'm on a smaller, slower, borrowed computer right now, but I guess we beggars can't really be choosey.

Also, THERE IS NO GRAN HABANO TASTING THIS SATURDAY (10/8)! I'm sorry for the short notice and I hope anyone planning to come is reading this first. When I mentioned it in my Fall 2005 Newsletter, I did say that these dates were tentative and that I'd send another newsletter to confirm the dates of any tastings, but without my Mac, I'm powerless and feel as though I'm disconnected from the world out there. My plan is to reschedule the event for the following Saturday, Oct. 15 but, again, I'll let you know for sure.

Please pass this along to anyone you know who may have been planning on attending this tasting and thank you for your patience.
