OPEN
The downtown annex of Midtown Books is now open for business in the loft here at Memphis Tobacco Bowl. Come by and peruse a selection of 2,000 good quality used books - fiction, history, regional interest, religion, etc, etc - while sipping on a coffee from Memphis Coffee Exchange, also located in the Tobacco Bowl.
It's like a mall here now, you've got your cigars and pipes, tobaccos, coffee and pastry and shelves full of used books. Lest it seem as though I'm spreading myself thin or that I'm not sure what I want this place to be - smokeshop, bookshop, coffeeshop - let me assure you that this is first and foremost a premier smokeshop for connoisseurs of fine cigars, pipes and tobaccos. Everything else is designed to make your stay here more comfortable. And that's exactly what I'd like to encourage, for you to come in, shop, and stay a while. To that end, over the years I've put in three TVs with satellite, Wi-Fi internet service for you to bring your laptop in and get some work done or just surf the internet, a full-scale coffee & espresso bar and now the one thing downtown really needed, a bookstore.
I hope to see you soon and I hope that you will make yourself at home while here, in our Downtown Oasis.
Here are some links regarding Midtown Books and its branch downtown. Link One. Link Two. Link Three.

Bjarne Pipe Photos
Here is a photo of the hand-made Bjarne pipes that Mr. Nielsen brought by last week. Not pictured are a dozen of their machine made Viking brand pipes.

Fresh From Denmark
Pipe purveyor and world traveler, Bjarne Nielsen, has just stopped in and left behind a handful of
beautiful new pipes. As you may know, Bjarne Pipes are always hand made and one of a kind and these are certainly no exception as beautiful straight grain and bird's eye abound. Along with the hand carved pieces, I've also picked up a dozen machine made pipes from his factory in Denmark. Stop in to see all of these pipes and pick up a great bargain, machine mades for $45 and hand carved from $70.
I'll post some photos of these pipes soon so stay tuned!

Coming Soon...
Coming to the Tobacco Bowl in January 2006, a little bit of Midtown on the mezzanine.
Read more about it in a posting from last year (yes, I'm a procrastinator). I'll have more info on this in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
